About
Mahaveer Yoga Shala

At Mahaveer Yoga Shala, we believe that yoga is more than just a practice—it's a way of life. We are Ashish, from India, and Marie, from Germany, united by our love for yoga and its holistic wisdom.

Our paths crossed in India in 2020, and in 2023, we founded Mahaveer Yoga Shala with the shared vision of offering authentic yoga to the world. Whether you’re new to yoga or deepening your practice, we welcome you to explore the true essence of yoga with us, where body, mind, and spirit connect.

Ashish’s journey with yoga began early in life, growing up in India, where the teachings of Yoga and Sanatana Dharma were part of everyday life. During his early years, yoga was primarily a physical practice for Ashish, focusing on strength, flexibility, and discipline. It wasn’t until his early 20s, when his father gifted him a book about yoga, that he began exploring the deeper aspects of the practice, including pranayama, meditation, and the philosophy of yoga. This marked a turning point, as yoga became not just a physical pursuit but a way of living and a guiding philosophy.
As his practice deepened, Ashish pursued formal training, not only in yoga but also in personal fitness, combining these two fields to develop a comprehensive understanding of the body and mind. His time spent living in an ashram further enriched his spiritual practice, allowing him to experience firsthand the holistic lifestyle yoga offers. This unique blend of traditional ashram living and modern personal training has shaped his teaching approach, offering students a balanced experience of yoga that is accessible yet deeply rooted in tradition.
Since 2010, Ashish has been dedicated to teaching yoga, sharing his knowledge with students from all corners of the world. Over the years, he has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, helping them discover the transformative power of yoga, not only on the mat but in their everyday lives. His passion lies in preserving the authenticity of yoga, teaching it in a way that honors its spiritual origins while also making it relevant for modern life.
Ashish’s teachings incorporate the holistic aspects of yoga, blending physical asana practice with pranayama, meditation, and Ayurvedic principles.
His aim is to guide students toward a balanced, mindful way of living that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit.

Marie Om Nowak

Marie discovered yoga during a particularly stressful period of her life, seeking it as a way to find balance and inner peace. Initially drawn to the physical practice, she soon realized that yoga was much more than just a method for staying fit—it was a powerful tool for personal transformation. As her practice deepened, yoga began to influence every aspect of her life, opening her heart to its profound mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits.
In 2018, Marie embarked on her first teacher training in Thailand, which sparked a deeper curiosity and commitment to learning. Over the years, she pursued further trainings in India and Nepal, immersing herself in different traditions and teachings. Marie is trained in Hatha Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Ayurveda, all of which have greatly influenced her holistic approach to teaching and personal practice.
Marie’s teaching is rooted in these rich, ancient practices, which she honors by blending them into her classes in a way that is both accessible and deeply transformative. She believes that yoga is a journey inward, one that goes beyond the physical postures to touch the very core of our being. Through her teachings, Marie aims to guide her students toward a greater sense of balance, self-awareness, and connection to their inner wisdom.
Her gentle and nurturing approach creates a safe space for students to explore yoga at their own pace, whether they are complete beginners or experienced practitioners. Marie’s classes are more than just a physical practice—they are an invitation to cultivate inner peace, clarity, and a sense of wholeness, both on and off the mat.
